The Gaslight Anthem were unfamiliar to me, honestly speaking, but their music was like a childhood friend. A low-maintenance kind of friendship, you just pick it up from where you left off years ago.
That Tuesday afternoon reminded me to get back on doing cardio. As it was my first time watching at the Greek Theater, I had to look for Will Call. I parked on the lot before the theater and had to hike up the hill. Boy was that exhausting!
So I got my credentials and entered the vicinity. The security let me in right away so I could check out the actual stage. Red seats and open skies, any band would dream to play here. And lucky me, I get to take photos here.
The night started buzzing with The Dirty Nil, just like the double shot espresso from your favorite coffee shop. Followed up by that angsty rock and roll from Joyce Manor, everyone singing hit after hit.
The highlight of the night, The Gaslight Anthem, headlined the show for their History Books tour. Brian Fallon echoed through the theater. It gave me a sense of hope, a sense of belongingness to the world. They were unfamiliar to me, honestly speaking, but their music was like a childhood friend. A low-maintenance kind of friendship, you just pick it up from where you left off years ago.
Their music gives off that familiarity, songs you would play on your drive home being away from family. A buffer between the tight grip on the wheel and that warm embrace from your loved ones.
"I am home."
