Born June 10th, 1999, in White Pigeon Michigan as the youngest of six, Mikel James Watkins is an up-and-coming singer, songwriter, producer, engineer, poet, storyteller, and father of one.

Currently based out of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Watkins is defined within the songs. It’s who he is, where he’s from, and what he’s overcome. He’s a passionate musician that brings all of his life experiences into the groove. Some of them will be good times, some of them will be bad times and some of them will just be vibes and waves and that’s okay.

Words from Mikel James Watkins:

“Thank you for all your love and support on the journey to overall being better than what I was the day before. I truly appreciate it.”

We had the opportunity to catch up with Mikel Watkins about his latest single, here's what he had to say.

Q: How did you get into making music?

A: I’ve been writing songs for about 10 years now, but I start getting heavily into producing, composing, and releasing material back at the beginning of 2019. My influences include Lil Peep, Mac Miller, Kanye West, Quincy Jones, Pharrell, and so many others.

Q: So how did you go about creating your newest single, “Manic”?

A: I recorded my newest song shortly after a manic episode. I kinda had my girl break down how I acted from her first-hand experience and made the beat in like 20 minutes, wrote the song in another 20, and then I was like, this is going to help someone I have to release it.

I produced recorded it and sent it off to mix and master to my engineer, Execute. He’s an up-and-comer from Portland, a super dope young humble kid.
